Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: In-shower mirrors… 21Oct 05, 2008 9:15 pm That sounds REALLY good, that locking thing. I'm gonna return my craptacular one and get one of those. I'll do this on Tuesday. Tomorrow I am stuck at home once I get back from work waiting for the Bunnings delivery people to bring our plants and outdoor setting. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: In-shower mirrors… 22Oct 06, 2008 12:21 pm grace_slick Oh, ok. I guess that could be it. Is Freedom known for certain cheap things like that? I don't see how any place could sell a product if everyone who buys it keeps bringing it back? A certain store manager, I know, says it is very common... and you might be on the right track.... Lol
I’m returning the Shaver Shop one tomorrow when I go back there, and I’ll get another one, the one with the locking mechanisms. I did see 1 or 2 with that feature there when I chose my one, but for some reason didn’t choose them. *shrug* How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: In-shower mirrors… 24Oct 07, 2008 5:52 pm Grr. I took back the mirror and of course when the sales guy stuck it to their wall, it held perfectly (although I was slightly gratified to see that the one suction cup that turned up a bit at the edges, preventing a seal, was still faulty and that particular cup didn't stick.
Anyway, after some slight argument, they agreed to refund me (they said it worked for them and in 2 years they'd never had a single person return one of those mirrors, and the packaging was open so they couldn't sell it, and blah, blah, all true and fine points, but I still couldn't use what I'd paid for), and I took home another different one. One that doesn't look anywhere near as nice, is very small and round and more plastic looking, but was the only one that has a locking thing. (it was also $20 cheaper, only $30 instead of $50) So I got home and tried it and at first it didn't work, but then the lock kicked in and it's still there, an hour later. (I didn't moisten the cup either, despite it saying to. The guys in the shop didn't moisten it and it worked for them) The only thing is that I don't like how it looks cause it looks cheap. And also when I opened the packaging, there was a crack down the middle of it. *sigh* So I'm thinking I might just return it and try my luck elsewhere. I need one with a locking mechanism but that's square, bigger and not cracked! lol But at least I know my tiles aren't defective or something for suction things! I think part of the reason the other one didn't work was because I need the locking thing to seal in the air. Otherwise it just comes out. Also, because it had 4 suction cups, despite this being good as surely 4 is stronger than 1, they didn't seem to be all 100% even on the tile surface, so if one was even 1mm more away from the tile than the other 3, it wouldn't suck properly, you know? Anyway...meh. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: In-shower mirrors… 25Oct 08, 2008 2:19 pm Just more about the suction things…how come they all say to moisten the cups but they stick (for me anyway) a lot better when dry?
And also, if the suction thing with the locking mechanism works, will ones without this lock work ever or am I doomed? There are 5 different varieties of shower mirror, and 4 of them I like but don’t have the lock. The one that does, I don’t like the look of. *pulling hair out* lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: In-shower mirrors… 26Oct 21, 2008 5:24 pm re suction things that don't and which tend to fall down in the middle of the night with a clatter that frightens the living daylights out of me - I hate suction anything now. Where feasible I use stick on velcro dots. I use this for the timer in the shower and for other things like that, also the suction (huh!) sponge holders etc. Velcro and Liquid Nails are two of my all time favourite products for the non-handy woman.
On the subject of mirrors I am looking for a mirror, round, magnified on one side which tilts and swivels like an ordinary stand shaving mirror but which is on a - here goes trying to describe this! - a thing that is like a concertina arrangement so that it folds back into the wall or pulls out from the wall and can then be tilted up, down or flipped over for the magnifying side. Is this just a product of an over fertile imagination or does something like this exist out there? Concertina thing isn't a very good description I know. Can I really confuse people by saying it is reminscent of a folding wine bottle storer ? What's wrong with acting like an ostrich and burying your head in the sand sometimes? Now tell me where I might find them and I might even remember you in my will! I am in WA so the chances of their being an outlet here are zilch but if I can find a place "over East" I can order - and it should be here by Christmas! Re: In-shower mirrors… 30Oct 22, 2008 3:20 pm The other suction mirror I ordered from Ebay arrived yesterday. I just have to get 1 more battery before I can HOPEFULLY successfully stick it to the wall. I am SO hoping it stays on!! I really like it. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing!
