Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 12, 2020 3:59 pm Hi everyone. After some advice on repairing a cracked shower base (see attached). We'll be renovating the bathroom at some point so just after something that will work for us over the next 12 months or so. I've seen 2 approaches online that look to be either a fiberglass strip applied along the length of the crack, or alternatively a resin to be applied along the crack to bind the 2 sides. The resin (I'm assuming this is the right term...examples I've seen are from Selleys) is delivered through a double barreled plunger. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether these actually work and of so which approach would be better, or any gotchas on either? As I said doesn't need to last forever, but something that will hold and be functional for the short to medium term. The resin looks to be simpler to work with. Also keep a very close eye on any water leaking, I assume you would already be getting some issues but you need to be mindful they cause significant problems in the structure. Speaking to someone today who recommended a mould resistant silicon sealant? Said it would be a soft finish but I assumed I would need to use something that set hard. The soft option would be easier but I’m not convinced it would work...?
