Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 11, 2020 9:22 am Hi, I'm doing a small bathroom reno, new vanity, shower and base, but unsure how I connect the shower floor drain to the waste pipe and trap underneath if there's no access. On a previous reno I was able to get under the house to attach the trap but in this place there will be no access if I put down all the flooring. At the moment it seems the only way is if I part install the flooring, AC sheeting, waterproofing etc. for just the shower base area then somehow squeeze myself between the floor joists to hopefully reach far enough to attach the trap.. I feel like there's an easier way. Perhaps a type of puddle flange that connects to the trap, which the shower base and drain then attach to?? Thanks Re: Connect shower drain with limited sub floor access? 2Mar 17, 2020 8:42 pm When the old flooring has been ripped up, as part of the rough-in you install all the waste pipes and traps with them coming up through the floor. You lay the sheeting and cut out neatly around the shower and floor waste pipes then cut them off flush with the flooring. The waterproofing then is applied and then down about 20mm at least into the pipe. Stewie Thanks Stewie, The problem is attaching the threaded trap to the floor drain (one piece shower base) once the flooring is down with no sub-floor access. I did ask elsewhere and someone mentioned a 'Smartpan' from Reece. I checked it out, it would have worked with a different trap and drain fittings but it's quite big and would have pushed the waste pipe in the wrong direction for the fall. I ended up fitting most of the flooring and AC sheeting, leaving a small gap, then temporarily removed a noggin to give me just enough room to squeeze underneath. No for the claustrophobic but it'll work. Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1. optional, you can but normally just use the earth from the main switch board 2. should be enough but the distance determines voltage drop - sparky should work it… 1 28818 Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4546 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4093 |
