Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 18, 2020 8:06 am Hi guys, I've got an older bathroom with wall and floor tiles. The floor tiles run along the wall as a skirting and then the wall tiles are above all the way to the ceiling. I dont mind the floor tiles, but the wall ones are ugly and full of holes from multiple cabinets and basins replaced over the years. To save money, I was thinking of keeping the floor tiles, ripping up the wall ones and then again to make it more cost effective, instead of retiling just whack on some waterproofing and then paint over it? Its a full rendered brick wall. I might get tiles in the shower area but does anyone have any input on if this is: 1) as cost effective as I think compared to full tile replacement 2) possible and will be water proof etc? 3) anything I'm overlooking? I know i'll have to smooth down the wall behind the tiles but will this be a nightmare? Cheers. The painted render is a bit chalky to the touch. To prepare the surface for best adhesion, what would you recommend? Also, given that there must be some… 6 8486 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3321 Thanks mate, is there a standard off the shelf type breathable product I can apply DIY?
