Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 02, 2019 7:51 am I have an enclosed toilet with no window. Reading the code it appears that it should be vented outside. Instead it is vented into the skillion ceiling space, quite a small height, less than 30cm at a guess. The bathroom fan is also vented into the space. Is this going to cause condensation problems. It means the steam is going directly up onto the foil lining the roof. The kitchen fan is above an island bench but is actually a bathroom fan, also vented into the ceiling space. I couldn't work out how we could pull the vent apart to clean it so asked the manufacturer. They said the whole vent would have to be removed. Is this acceptable? Apparently the manufacturers of these brand extraction vents consider the warranty void if they are mounted on sloping ceilings as they were only tested on flat ceilings. People seem to think that they should be considered throw away items anyway, as they are so cheap. Re: Venting toilet and bathroom 5Jul 04, 2019 5:49 pm Certainly should. I was under the impression that all our extraction fans exhausted externally and our "Independent Inspector" even told us they did. Only when I got up in the roof myself that I found out that one bathroom and one toilet were exhausted into the roof cavity. Went back to the builder just to get "So sad, too bad" Re: Venting toilet and bathroom 6Jul 04, 2019 6:35 pm Incredible.....I am worried mainly because of the skillion roof cavity not being more than 30cm high. I really can't understand why builders are so slack with standards. Is it greed or just a 'don't care' attitude? Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7006 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
