Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 28, 2019 7:01 pm Hi we are currently building and unsure if I have an issue with my wet area. I did request a shower bath combined wet area. Photo 1 Eg Our Builder has put in some metal skirting around the shower base which does not make sense Photo 2 Waterproofing which we have not seen due to not having access but house wide open so we did Photo 3 our Valuation photo Photo 4 the actual plans - which is where I think the mistake has been made Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ this is the style I was after not actual bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You can only just see the metal surround. We just want one glass panel and the rest open so not sure why the other two strips are there. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do you think thay have done it because of the diagram above. How should the plan look if it is one open plan shower bath combined Thank you in advance Re: Combined Shower bath Wet Area issue 2Jun 28, 2019 8:12 pm I'd say that they have built it as though there is going to be a full shower screen all around the shower. The waterproofing is only on the inside of the aluminium water stop indicating a screen is expected. You don't have the aluminium sticking up if you are having a wet room anyway. For a wet room I waterproof the whole floor and walls. That will be a difficult fix. When we had our inspection I did say to the builder that I thought the strip would run from wall to wall as everything is getting wet. he did not comment much at all. Really do not know where to go from here other then getting another person to back us up. He did mention that the waterproofing was signed off or certified but guessing that guy assumed it was a closed in shower as well. Do I get a copy of this report at hand over or how can I get a copy of this report. Our builders Contract states we are not to enter the property with out approval first, but we do go in every weekend. Re: Combined Shower bath Wet Area issue 7Jan 01, 2020 9:39 pm This is why clear and accurate plans are key to a successful build, so spend the money. Clearly the builder is at fault, the shower rebate isn't even the correct size... Hope it all worked out well. The design/specs on the drawings looks to be a sexy finish.
