Repairing wall & ceiling join.

Hey all, in the bathroom, there is what looks like tape at the join between the wall and ceiling that's starting to come off. There is also a slight gap between the walling and ceiling, as ants have come through there before.

My question is, how would I go about repairing this? This is right above the shower, so it does see quite a bit of moisture.

You should inspect that up-close. That could be a metal rim often used at joins...

I agree, it’s probably a metal angle.

We have tiles that go to the ceiling too, but no hint that’s what our builder used at the join. You could get a competent plaster to refinish it, but it might happen again over time. Alternatively, install another layer of blue-board right to the edges or even install a cornice.

Thanks for replying guys. I just had a close up look, and it's definitely not metal. Looks to be paper tape and possibly just painted over.

Would using adhesive to stick it back down and paint over it be sufficient do you think?

Many things can be "sufficient", but if it was me I would want to fix it properly and permanently. I would get a plasterer in.

Open the paper gap up a little so you can squirt water-based liquid nails in there, wipe clean with baby wipes or a damp rag. Paint the next day, it will never move. Make sure you glue it all down.
