I'm after your honest opinion on the standard shower set they use for bathrooms/ensuites. It's the Alder Vito shower set duo slide rail and soap dish...and looks something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I am wanting to know what the general flow is like and whether the pressure is good enough. One thing I can't stand is water not flowing out of the showerhead strong enough to rinse my long hair, and water which flows just around the edge of the rose...not all throughout. It would take 3 times as long to wash/rinse my hair...not good for water saving or time saving in the morning! My main concern is that if I don't like it, I can't easily change it without having two holes in the tiles where the vertical slide bar is attached. I would much rather a standard single showerhead that I can easily change to whatever I like in the future. TOTALLY !!! Both my daughter & I hate these water saving showerheads . Having said that, my husband is complaining also & he is no new age guy . If he's complaining, then they must be a pain But we're in the same boat. We're having a similar setup, though not the same brand - so can't help you, sorry. Dreading the lousy water pressure & the spray coming out of the outer ring of holes only. Have that in our current rental. Truly a pain in the !@#*. Anyone with a H3nley home have one of these shower heads? Phoenix? Mudtrilogy? Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! If I’d known they were going to be a standard item (water savers), I would have bought 5 of the cheap ones to keep me going. Carlisle Homes use the same and they are rated at around 7.6litres per minute. The tap (flickmixer) is the issue here, It controls the flow of water and the shower head is only as good as the water that is sent to it! I have tried removing the filters, removing the aerator etc.... to no avail! Same goes for your taps in the bath etc. My spa takes over an hour to fill and over 10 minutes to put 5 inches of water in for the kids baths. I would change if I could know then what I knew now. I think this is part of the government restrictions on saving water etc! Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 8Sep 15, 2008 9:35 pm Thanks Matt!
would there be any difference if using seperate hot and cold taps, not flickmixers? I have chosen the two tap option throughout the bathrooms/showers as I don't like the mixers (personal taste only!). Even the taps I chose won't be staying, they will be changed after handover, but I didn't want to spend money upgrading taps when they won't be there long! Do you think this might make a difference? The flickmixers nust have a pressure control in them...this cant be changed. There is no such technology (that I am aware of) for the standard taps. Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 10Sep 15, 2008 9:48 pm That's good news, Matt, thanks!
I'm still tempted to change over to a standard looking single showerhead without the slide bar thingy anyway...just in case! It'll cost me a PCV, but I didn't spend over 300K for a crappy shower! Have you thought about not even getting the standard taps installed in the first place, thus Henley wont charge for the item & you save money and fit yours straight away? Seems like a time saver. Surely they wouldn't have a problem with it Just my 2 cents... Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 12Sep 16, 2008 1:28 pm I had asked them previously (the Sales Consultant), if I could provide my own taps, but the answer was 'no'. Something to do with the whole 5 star rating, and warrantee of the products. I don't think they would not install taps at all, as it may not pass the Certificate of Occupancy without them? Don't know, I'm guessing, but I wouldn't think it would be an option. Hence, getting the cheapest/standard and changing them over after handover. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! We will be having the irwell hand held showers with mixer taps and I really don't like the idea of the water pressure being low..nothing worse!!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 14Sep 17, 2008 10:14 am The reason you have bad pressure has nothing to do with the showerhead, it is the pressure of the water being supplied to your house. A complicated showerhead ie, one with lots of settings, and rail showers, tend to make the pressure issues more noticable though.
Flickmixers have a maximum working pressure, so plumbers generally restrict the flow to the taps to stop the cartridge from shattering under too high pressure. Matt, It sounds like you have a flow restrictor on your bath outlet, which is not required. The flow restrictor is only need on showers and basins, not tapware that "fills" something. You can change to a non restricted one and still comply with the regulations. Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden! Our stuff so far viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16532 Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 15Sep 17, 2008 10:15 am We were told the same as what Matt said. If you have flickmixer's in bath or shower then the water pressure will be lower/slower. Because of that we went for the two taps. Only having flickmixers for the basins. Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 16Sep 17, 2008 10:25 am As long as its not a treakle or REALLY low pressure I think I'll be ok....
My mum has mixers in her shower and hers is the best shower I have had before... My karma ran over your dogma Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 17Sep 17, 2008 10:29 am My hubby desperately wanted the rain shower in our ensuite so thats what we have and its ok - could be bigger. We had issues post handover with the boys shower. Its a long way from the hot water service so with the filter etc in the mixer it meant that the water wouldn't stay hot for long. So henely came out and removed filter/aerator, flow regulator. So its fine now. I've washed my hair in it and it has more pressure than the rain shower. But agree entirely with matt re: the baths. Apparently there is a way round this but not sure how.
J Re: Honest opinions on the standard H3nley shower set. 20Sep 24, 2008 2:15 pm Isn't it funny how everyone has been told somthing different?
I asked the qtn of our handover supervisor who said its as a result of the actual water meter having a restrictor on it as part of the victorian water saving initiative??? Like Matt, our spa takes sooooooo long to fill. The shower taps that you've mentioned Stormy are ok, i suppose they take some getting used to, but when you've had good pressure, to come down, is a bit frustrating. If you are not replacing the water meter at your place, then i'd assume that yours would be ok? But assuming, from experience, can get you into trouble. We were also told to clean our filters regularly on all taps as there is always grit and dirt that can build up and restrict the flow of water. Hope it works out ok Stormy. Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life. They are trying to charge us interest on late… 7 14280 What we have done in a few theatres ( including my own) is run 2 layers of 13mm gyprock, but sounds insulation especially for the bass is really tricky as a lot of that… 4 2577 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
