Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 10, 2008 11:51 am Well after 2 weeks of searching I have finally found a seperate bath & shower that will fit in my bathroom but the question is now will it be too cramped?
Here is my rough sketch: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The room is 1500 w x 2100 l I have allowed 800 for the door to open, bath is 700 x 1400, shower is 900 x 800 (but can go down to 800 x 800) and vanity is 700 x 700. At the moment I have the same sort of layout with a shower over bath but maybe a little bit more room. I could change the door around to open outwards to give more room as I will be the main one using it since I am now planning on putting a basin in my toilet. Opinions? Trying to make it mine! Re: Too cramped or okay? 3Sep 10, 2008 1:23 pm As you'll be doing an extensive amount of work - rehanging the door, replumbing, tiling, probably electricals, mirrors, towel rails, etc etc....have you thought about a replacing the door with a sliding cavity door along the lower horizontal wall (in your pic).
Solves your hinging issue - you might smack someone in the face with out outward opening door, and the inward opening door impinges on the bathroom space. It may be a small cost in the overall project and allows you to free up your design. I figure with about of folding stuff your going to throw at the bathroom it's worth considering..... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Too cramped or okay? 4Sep 10, 2008 1:31 pm The door is currently in that spot now and the same with the vanity - just that its longer currently. So far I've had no incidents (the door is generally open anyway) and I am planning on having a small sink in the toilet so hopefully not many people will be using the bathroom.
Good thing is that alot of the existing plumbing will be used with the only thing really needing to be changing being the plumbing for the shower as currently its on the wall where the bath is. I don't really know alot about sliding cavity doors to be honest Trying to make it mine! Re: Too cramped or okay? 5Sep 10, 2008 1:37 pm Basically replace the wall with one of these

All it needs is some surrounding stud work to fit it into place. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Too cramped or okay? 7Sep 10, 2008 8:26 pm Just a note about your shower Sassy, my showers are going to be 900x900 and I am thinking in the flesh that they are a bit tiny. I definitely would have made them bigger looking back. Have you stood in a 900x800 or 800x800 to see if you are happy with that amount of space? Re: Too cramped or okay? 8Sep 11, 2008 1:24 pm Yeah we have a shower already that is 900x900 and it is too small I reckon.
But this probaby doesnt help you does it?... What I am saying just dont go down to the 900x800 or even the 800x800!! sandra It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard.
