Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 19, 2018 12:58 pm Hi all, We're trying to design a new bathroom. My wife wants a double shower and if possible for it be walk in. My draft design is attached and hopefully the dimensions are readable. The width of the double shower is 1680 and the depth is 1200. The entrance will be in the centre. I'm concerned water will just splash out onto the floor. It'll great to hear from others with there experience of walk in showers and whether they think this layout could work or if we are better off having a door. Cheers, kefa Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Double shower design help 2Sep 19, 2018 1:34 pm Hi, we have just installed a double shower in our new build in a bathroom with similar dimensions. We have put our shower heads on opposite walls. We felt this would reduce water heading out the gap between the glass screens. Also just noticed you are looking straight at the toilet as you walk in the bathroom door. I would probably put that on the same wall as the vanity if you can fit it as otherwise you are leaving yourself a very small walkway to get to the shower. Does having the shower heads on opposite walls work better? I would have thought that brings the showerhead closer to the gap. I'll see if the toilet will fit on the same side. Does that mean one side of the bathroom is bare? Re: Double shower design help 4Sep 19, 2018 2:28 pm I second moving toilet to same side as vanity, I would also move vanity to corner or make longer to corner. This way you have a more defined walkway with one side clear, also you can hang toilet roll holder on side of vanity otherwise you will have to mount on wall behind. Re: Double shower design help 5Sep 19, 2018 2:36 pm We haven’t moved in yet so only tested the shower heads without being in there. Seems to be fine. Yes you would have one side bare, somewhere to put your towel rail. Better than having your towels sitting right next to the toilet. Re: Double shower design help 6Sep 19, 2018 3:39 pm Reckon one could slip a double wc onto that plan with no trouble. Could sit there with the wife and have a family chat about the school fees. Double sinks, double showers, interest rates on the way up, house prices sliding, are we all going barking mad? But what do I know! Re: Double shower design help 10Sep 20, 2018 11:24 am TheShed Whatever you do, don’t make the toilet the first thing you see when you look in the door. Could you change the door to a cavity slider instead? That would free up space. Its an old brick house - so no the cavity slider is not possible. Assuming you mean the hinges are on the vanity side, I would change the door so it is hung from the other side. A bit more work but I think worth it for any of these layouts. We have an 1800x900 shower, head on the short side, with an 1100mm single sheet of glass and we still get a bit of spray out the opening. It's not much, I just make sure I mop it up with the floor mat. Based on our spray pattern, I feel like your first option might contain the most water?? Re: Double shower design help 12Sep 20, 2018 1:55 pm bank Assuming you mean the hinges are on the vanity side, I would change the door so it is hung from the other side. A bit more work but I think worth it for any of these layouts. The hinges are actually on the side opposite the vanity. So it swings towards the wall not vanity. My concern would be if the vanity is moved any closer to the door then someone using the basin near the door could be hit by the door. Thanks for the tip on the spray. Re: Double shower design help 13Sep 20, 2018 2:51 pm I like the look of the toilet and vanity in a straight line and put the vanity up to the wall. You shouldn't have a problem with someone being hit by the door as I wouldn't assume that someone would come barging in if the door is shut (especially with a toilet in there).
