Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 11, 2006 6:22 am Just a little tip for the unwary. DON'T try to bend copper pipe with your thumbs. Rerouting a piece of copper pipe for the new mixer tap in the bathroom and having already bent the hot side to where I wanted it, was bending the cold pipe the same way, using my thumbs. Felt something tear and click in my left thumb. Looked down and the end of my thumb was bent at right angles at the first knuckle. Grabbed it and straightened it out with my right hand but the damage had been done. Blew up like a balloon with a minute and spent the rest of the afternoon in hospital...tore the tendons and now have to see a specialist for possible surgery. So easily done and you don't realise what you can't do without the use of a thumb. If all you can see are obstacles, you have lost sight of the goals Not just plumbing... 2Dec 11, 2006 12:19 pm What a bummer - it's always the little things that get you un-awares (obviously)...

Or if you really want to push the boundaries of medical wizardry I'm sure our main man Renomart won't mind me posting this link: http://renomart.com.au/circular-saw-1-v ... y-thumb-0/ Yow! Luckily for me, I can hold a beer in my left hand again! Better still, I can hold one in each hand! Well I won't be holding anything in my left hand for a while. But I can still hold a very big glass of bourbon in my other hand.
