Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Bathroom Floor Tile Replacement and Waterproofing 2Dec 27, 2017 5:43 pm Can someone provide some insight into this issue? I have a situation where the tilers have laid wrong floor tiles and have advised that they will rectify this. So will this require them to redo the waterproofing? should I insist and make sure that the water-proofing is re-done? Re: Bathroom Floor Tile Replacement and Waterproofing 3Apr 21, 2018 5:56 pm We are having the same issue with the shower base of one of our showers. Our independent inspector picked up that the tiling was uneven. They agreed to get the tiler back and fix it. We wanted photographic evidence that the membrane wasn't ruptured. We didn't get it! Can you believe it, the tiler has retiled them uneven again. They now have to be pulled up for a second time so we are saying surely the water proofing has to be re done this time. It is honestly so frustrating. We were supposed to be in our house in December. Hey, I would suggest to request the waterproofing certificate, see what the waterproofer thinks - it may void the waterproofers warranty. I spoke to a waterproofer when I was pursuing my repairs, and it was arranged that they would provide an independent inspection after tiles were removed but most likely be re-sealing because you possibly won’t see the damaged membrane. In the end, Clarendon Homes performed no rectification at my home. After their contractor refused to complete the repair, They went down the path of deeming the defect not major, since I was outside the three years minor defect period. After all the stress of a tribunal and having unanswered calls I gave up. Research your defects periods, understand what certificates the builder should be providing and get an independent building inspection during your minor defect period Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8401 Hey There. No problems re jumping in.
