Thanks Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 2Apr 16, 2017 8:10 pm Oh I should mention that I will have a double kitchen sink that will be near the washing machine. Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 4Apr 22, 2017 1:33 pm ausdesign No you don't. I have been checking the minimum requirements for Occupancy Permit in Victoria and came across these requirements in the NCC. 3.8.3.2 Required facilities a) A Class 1 building must be provided with— (i) a kitchen sink and facilities for the preparation and cooking of food; and (ii) a bath or shower; and (iii) clothes washing facilities, comprising at least one washtub and space in the same room for a washing machine; and (iv) a closet pan and washbasin. Explanatory information: A kitchen sink or washbasin must not be counted as a laundry washtub. However, a laundry washtub is considered to provide the necessary means to dispose of waste water as required by P2.4.3. Why does this requirement not apply in this particular case ? Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 5Apr 26, 2017 6:14 pm I don't think that having a laundry sink is a prerequisite in houses unless you absolutely want to have one for yourself. I should think that for practicality's sake that I wouldn't do my washing in the kitchen unless I have no other options though. I can't imagine having all those clean clothes around oily and potentially dirty kitchen counter top surfaces. But that's just me. What seems to be the officer's problem? Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 7Jun 10, 2017 10:10 am Saint Mike Its the waste water bit. How would the washer do this in the kitchen ? Both waste pipes would connect to the sewer. Kitchens are becoming more and more multi-functional. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 9Jun 11, 2017 7:55 pm I don't think it is necessary either. I have definitely seen plans for granny flats and apartments having WM in kitchen without the a laundry sink which some of those only have a single kitchen sink. Re: Laundry sink in the kitchen - In Victoria 10Jun 16, 2017 9:15 pm This is common in England, very rare in Australia, we're just not use to it, might work OK with a single or a couple, but would imagine it getting very difficult with bigger families.
