Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 29, 2017 12:06 pm We've been in our project home almost 8 years now and 2 of the semi-frameless showers (used constantly) are in a bad way. One in particular. They leak in the corners where the rubber seals don't reach the frame ie water gets in and then makes its way to the outside of the shower. This leaves either water stains (calcium deposits?) on the tiled hob and/or rust stains. The rust stains then migrate along the outside of the rubber seal along the length of the frame and has turned the rubber brown. One of the doors has dropped and become very difficult ot open/close with the plastic water displacer constantly falling off. Anyhow, enough of the complaints. So, during the process of getting quotes to replace them, I was told not to use off-the-shelf shower cleaners and bleach but metho/water instead, to be kinder to the rubber around the frames. What do you think ? How does a weekly clean using metho measure up ? I don't get it.....in nearly 35 years of cleaning my various showers using, off-the-shelf shower cleaners and bleach, I have never had my showers look like this. Have the cleaning products changed? or have the shower materials changed? This is what I'm going to stick with... its a big no no to use bleach especially on grout as it eats away at it. I couldn't attached the photo for some reason.
