Hi all I have a leaky shower (water signs on the slate on floor of next room) that I attempted to repair with silicone replacement where the wall tiles meet the floor tiles. It has improved but still leaking, I think the problem is the floor tiles as when I knock on them some sound hollow. (It is a concrete floor and a Villa Board wall) I have bit the bullet and decided to remove the lower row of wall tiles and the floor tiles in the shower and seal the floor and seal with membrane where the floor meets the wall.
My problem is how to remove the bottom wall tiles with out damaging the villa Board wall. I have cut diagonally and other cuts to one tile with a diamond blade on my angle grinder and already have a small hole in the wall from levering a piece of tile out. I have knocked off for today and will have another go tomorrow I might try making many cuts with the diamond blade and when I remove the first tile I will get better access to the other tiles (only the bottom row)
I am considering getting a vibrating multi tool from Bunnings and I wonder if anyone has experience with one of these tools for tile removal. Obviously they will be good for the grout removal but what about the tile itself?
Thanks in advance for any advice I will attack it again tomorrow.
