Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 23, 2006 5:04 pm we would like to change the old fush toilet system in our bathroom. The house was built in 1923 and the bathroom it is in is an old corrugated lean to. We are not sure as to how to safely remove the cement toilet bowl so we can flush it with a new modern push button system. Are you familar with this problem. Please let us know your idea as to how we should best go about removing it and reinstaslling the new system.
Thanks for your time Re: changing old Toilet 2Nov 23, 2006 7:32 pm Do you have Redback spiders out there as well? What an Aussie icon!
1923…..that’s great! As a designer I’m fascinated. No problem with the loo, you just need to breakaway the concrete securing it to the floor. If you look around the bottom of the loo you will see what I mean. It is (hopefully) siting on a bed of concrete. Chip it away and remove the toilet bowl and I’m guessing the over head flush system. Then all you have to do is concrete in the new one. But I think you will need a plumber or builder if you aren’t sure on connecting up the pipe work. Your biggest concern is to make sure no one leans against your lean to while doing the job! The guys will come up with something better so best you wait for them to answer your question. I just had to get in on it. As I said I’m fascinated in the period of your home. In fact I can’t remember when I last saw a corrugated iron loo? Where do you live? You can't use a modern 3L/6L dual-flush cistern with the old pan either. I'd say throw them and replace with a toilet. You can get plenty of 'heritage' or 'victorian' type suites - try Recollections etc. How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 9176 Hi All, I'm new here! I'm in a block of 4 apartments (Waverley council) and looking to change a window to a sliding door.
