Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 11, 2016 12:26 am Hello, I want to install 3 in 1 heatlamp fan in my second bathroom, i have been told by an electrician that there is asbestos in the ceiling and he couldnt drill into it. Is there a solution without having to disturb the asbestos? Is it possible to add another layer of gyprock ceiling (Bathroom ceiling is quite high approx 2.7m) and install the heatlamp on it? Would that be more costly than removing the asbestos? Thanks Andre Re: heat lamp installation-trying to avoid disturbing asbest 2Aug 11, 2016 9:55 pm You'll find most tradesmen will avoid jobs involving asbestos. You could drop the ceiling down sheet it with gyprock creating a cavity between the old and new. Having said that builders/carpenters would be framing and causing impact in the room which could lead to the dust becoming airborne and potentially accidental holes in the existing sheet too. It's probably worth getting the existing sheet removed and you can keep your higher ceiling and be comfortable the asbestos is discarded I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 5171 What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it. Houses before 1985… 2 4257 |
