Darkroom lights don't use infra-red lights.....and the red light is only for black and white papers. Black and white print papers is sensitive to blue light, or to blue and green light. So you can use a red light because the paper is not sensitive to it. Color paper is sensitive to all light therefore you need to work in complete darkness, and irrespective of B&W or color film development is done in complete darkness. And IXL's are simply heat lamps as Strumer said.....not more dangerous than a radiant heater. Strumer neri gulp!
