Hi everyone,
I just got this following my query with my builder whether water proofing is provided or whether water resistant / alternative solution is provided. I am building a double storey house. I am looking to have the entire bathroom floor waterproofed (instead of just providing the minimum requirement where water resistant surface is sufficient, and only waterproofing critical areas like the shower)
It goes like this :
"TIMBER FLOOR
· Floor joists centres to be a minimum of 450mm.
· Install yellow tongue particleboard flooring to all areas.
· Complete plastering works (villa board to all shower walls).
· Sand all floor joins.
· All internal joins of shower, bath hob and wall/floor junction to be sealed with approved sealant.
· Apply fibreglass bandage to all external corners of bath hob and all floor joins.
· Pre-prime and then apply waterproof membrane to shower walls to a minimum of 1800mm, front top and 300mm min above bath hob, floor area and also 100mm min turn-up to wall.
· Install cabinets.
· Complete tiling works.
IN-SITU SHOWER BASES (TIMBER FLOOR) –
· Floor joist in the area of the shower are to be left lower (50mm) to accommodate pre-fabricated tile tray
· Install yellow tongue particleboard flooring to all areas.
· Install tile tray as per manufactures specifications
· Complete plastering works (villa board to all shower walls).
· All internal joins of shower, bath hob and wall/floor junction to be sealed with approved sealant.
· Apply fibreglass bandage to all external corners of bath hob and shower recess.
· Pre-prime and then apply waterproof membrane to shower walls to a minimum of 1800mm, front top and 300mm minimum above bath hob, floor area and also 100mm minimum turn-up to wall
· Install cabinets.
· Complete tiling works (tile to shower base should finish 3-5mm below top of chrome angle.
· Install shower screen inside of chrome angle"
Does this look like waterproofing of the entire bathroom floor is provided?
It says "floor area" in the same sentence as shower walls & bath hob, so not sure if they mean the entire floor area, or only the floor area of the shower & bath
Can anyone help?
