Hi guys
Wondering if in your experience having heat lamps included in the build is worth having? Live in Melbourne and winter can be pretty cold. How much power do they suck? Are they terrible with power consumption?
Thanks

I didn't bother installing one in my other homes. I would assume that they are more energy efficient these days, but that's just an assumption. We're in Adelaide and Its just cheaper for us to do it like that instead of asking our builder, who charges an arm and a leg for extras. Building a custom Sterling home in Adelaide. Re: Heat lamps 5Apr 25, 2016 10:16 pm I just did a quick Google search. It appears that most heat lamps in the bathroom light heaters are 275w each. So far a two heat lamp unit you're burning 550w per hour. The four heat lamp units burn 1100w per hour. I suppose compared to a little electric heater they're probably better in terms of energy usage. However I have found that unless I was standing directly under it I couldn't notice the warmth. Having said that though I'm the type of person who puts a light cardigan on at night in Cairns when we are on holiday ? Plus I have really hot showers. So I'm probably not the best person I comment on how good these units are! For our next build, looking at getting a heating duct in the bathroom instead. There may be answers here but can't find anything. I have a closed in veranda, four windows.
