Is it possible tiles look this different purely because they are different walls? Secondly, the edge of the tiles have been left exposed. Should they have sealant over the top & painted in the wall colour so it all blends in or is it standard practice to leave it like this? In the kitchen the grouting has run down the wall and left a brown stain on the paint!! Re: Tiling done right??? 2Feb 10, 2016 7:22 pm Do you have photos? I do believe you have to specify if you want mitred tiles, it's when the "shave" the edges of the tiles so you can place them closer together and not see the exposed edges. The just tile them normally and don't paint them or anything. That doesn't sound very normal to me. Yes, the edge of our tiles was also left exposed (they painted the tops), it was suggested that we take a spare tile to Beaumonts to get a colour match paint and then paint it.
