At tradies rates your labour costs would start at $7000+. Thats for a new bathtub + shower cubicle on PVC base + vanity unit + tiles. Yes it can quickly add up, great job on having a crack yourself, that's how you save money! Re: What does it cost to Renovate a Bathroom? 23Oct 19, 2016 6:45 pm Our Build123 MoodyBlue We recently renovated a 2.8 x 2.8 which included moving the plumbing to relocate the shower to the other side of the room and filling in a window with bricks. Our quotes varied from $16K - 43K (4 builders) for exactly the same thing! The bathroom reno companies were the most expensive, the small builder was the cheapest and did a great job. Wow that's a big difference in costs! Great result in the end by the sounds of it though!! How long did the whole process take you from initial design to completion of the bathroom, if you don't mind me asking? James Mason http://www.renovationjunkies.com.au http://www.ourbuildhandyman.com.au Sorry, I've only just seen this. About 4-5 weeks. But they werent onsite every day (our fault as we took our time with product selections etc). Also, being a small builder the bathroom was a small job they were fitting in amongst their larger jobs. Re: What does it cost to Renovate a Bathroom? 24Oct 27, 2016 12:28 pm Apparently, the average bathroom in 2015-16 was worth just under $18 000 a year! Thats much more expensive than you would think! I'm pretty sure there are work arounds and ways to save costs without sacrificing too much quality. Things like in-wall toilets add a lot of cost to the project, don't they? I would rather go with nicer tiles, your wife seemed like she chose pretty middling price tiles, considering the fact that she had expensive taste I think if you hunt around, there's always ways to figure out how to get a bathroom done for cheaper, I can not imagine putting together $30k for a bathroom unless I wanted it to be one of the most deluxe ones ever. You can get a pretty decent bathroom for (probably) around half that price. For example this article on how investors who are renovating an investment property can do it whilst maximising their value (or in other words, minimising costs) and was thinking about how relevant that would be for anybody. Bathrooms are pretty expensive, but I was also shocked to see how much kitchens cost Re: What does it cost to Renovate a Bathroom? 25Oct 27, 2016 1:58 pm ctann Apparently, the average bathroom in 2015-16 was worth just under $18 000 a year! That said we just gave ours a makeover for just under 2K, new bench tops, second hand (but very nice) appliances and a spray job, it's amazing what a difference that makes.
