Mish - yes you are right, I originally did not want large wall tiles! I changed my mind Can I blame my pregnancy hormones?? (you should hear some of the baby names I liked when I was pregnant - which I hate now ) Stipple cocoa will still go with my new ensuite. Maybe I will go with them for the cupboards, and an alabaster benchtop then? The Beaumont tiles person said I could have the large tile on my wall. Will have to re-check that, thanks Jo - no, did not take as insult in the slightest! Really appreciate your honesty, and still not sure if I disagree!! Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 43Jul 23, 2008 7:43 pm I would also stick to gloss on the walls - I initially wanted a lighter coloured brown matt tile on my walls but the people at NT advised me they are really hard to keep clean and show alot of marks.
I HATE cleaning bathrooms, so stuck to plain white gloss wall tiles, they also help to lighten up a space and go with pretty much any colour. I think the light floor tile you had with white gloss wall tiles and your feature mosaics around the shower and bath would look fantastic. You could then use either oyster linea, mushroom linea, licorice linea or a whole range of laminex colours for cupboards My karma ran over your dogma Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 45Jul 23, 2008 7:49 pm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 47Jul 23, 2008 8:01 pm Ok, what you need to do is go back to the tile shop, have another look for a tile that isn’t stippled as your main tile.
Make sure it matches with the nice mosaics and brown tile. Then check with your builder about the size they will lay on the floor. Then take photos and post it up again. We will have another look. How’s that sound?? Your floor tile isn’t stippled. The brown one I mean. Your floor tile isn’t stippled. The brown one I mean. The embossed one? Ah that's ok. It's only one wall. Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 51Jul 23, 2008 9:24 pm donuts Why is it so much harder to clean on the walls, but ok on the floors? I think maybe because alot of the shampoo/soap etc gets flicked on the wall tiles and unless you give your shower a good rinse after every use then it builds up. With the floor you have constant water flowing over it down the drain. Maybe??? Happy at Home Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 52Jul 23, 2008 9:41 pm Yeah that makes sense H2B. I don't really mind. I actually have a cleaning lady ... so don't have to worry about cleaning myself ... she'll get over it
You know what? I think I'm just going to DO IT. I love them. As long as they can put the big ones on the walls, I think my mind is made up. Will be back in a few days when I have my laminex samples to get opinions on benchtops & cupboards! Thanks everyone for your help Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 53Jul 23, 2008 9:57 pm donuts You know what? I think I'm just going to DO IT. I love them. As long as they can put the big ones on the walls, I think my mind is made up. You go girl!!! If you love them then have them. Oh and I am envious of your cleaning lady........one day I'll have one. DH often makes comments about me going back to work when the youngest is at school. I said if I do two days or more then I have to have a cleaning person, DH said fair enough! Happy at Home Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 54Jul 23, 2008 10:25 pm Good on you Donuts - like Toni said, if you love them then you deserve to have them!
Look forward to seeing your laminex samples! We had a cleaning lady, but I always found I did a better job myself, also I felt funny sitting around the house when she was there - I always felt like I needed to be out. Lastly I hated tidying before she came - she just cleaned, didn't put thigs away etc...it was like cleaning for the cleaning lady My karma ran over your dogma Re: I got sick of my tiles, so ... 55Jul 23, 2008 10:46 pm My cleaning lady is left over from when I worked 3 days / week. But to be honest, I am MUCH busier and need her more now that I'm home with 2 kids all days.
I do sometimes feel like I'm tidying up for her, but I think it's still worth it (otherwise it might not get tidied at all... ) And I always make sure I'm on my way out to do something when she comes, so I'm not sitting around watching!
