Hello All!
I am new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice...
My apologies if this is not the right forum, but I try anyway
I am in the middle of bathroom renovation and after having ripped off the old tiles and digged the all area in order to install new drains, it is time to re-patch with a new concrete slab (small bathroom and all old concrete came out).
my questions are:
- is 10 cm concrete slab deep enough?
- I have noticed that the old concrete slab was poured on top of sand (in Perth there is only sand LOL) (I come from Europe and there you would put tar paper to avoid humidity and water coming up form soil - not sand there ... would you recommend to pour the concrete on top of sand or put a layer?
- would you "connect" concrete slab to perimetral wall or again you would space them with some tar paper (this is done in Europe to avoid humodity and water coming up from groud gets in the floor - with tar paper will stay only in the walls...)
- the old concrete slab does not have mesh, would you put it in?
- how long should I wait before to proceed?
many thanks in advance for any help!
Regards
Ivan
