I don't know how old the hot water system is, but is it likely it will need the whole thing replaced, or is replacing a pressure valve not that big a deal? Take a photo of the plate attached to the valve as this will show the model and kpa rating, then take this down to tradelink or reece to get a new one for between $90 and $130 depending on model.
