Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 25, 2015 10:17 pm Hi All. I have a problem here. I had to replace a washer in the tap. Apparently while I was undoing the topmost part of the tap (see the 1st photo), I rotated the tap body which loosening connections underneath the sink (see the 2nd photo) and now it is leaking. It is the 2nd time it happened to me for the last year. Can you please let me know how can I prevent a tap body from rotating while undoing the topmost part of the tap. Thanks. Ensure the tap is in the on position before trying to loosen the spindle, and if it rotates like it has for you, then you will need to get some vice grips onto the underside to hold it in place and use sharp blows to turn the spindle rather than bulk leverage which makes the whole thing spin. Common fault. Some times to tighten the kinco nut up under the basin we plumbers use a tool called a basin spanner.
