To me any wet room should have a central floor waste - laundry, bathroom, powder room etc. 99.9% of the time those rooms will be fine but in the case of a laundry where the washing machine hoses may burst or a sink in any of those other rooms overflows, then a floor waste may stop a lot of water damage to adjoining rooms or those below if it is a two storey house.
