Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 17, 2015 12:57 pm Hi all, we are in a new build and our shower drain seems very loud. We live in quite close proximity to our neighbours and I'm a little worried they can hear it too It looks like a 90mm (ish) drain grate (circular) and when I put my foot over half of it the noise really drops away. Any ideas of what causes this or how we can perhaps dampen it (no pun intended!) Re: Loud shower drain 2Sep 17, 2015 10:59 pm this is usually an issue when the shower drain is also the central trap for the bathroom aswell. Have a look down it with a torch and see if it has water sitting at the bottom. If it does then this is the issue. Not a lot you can do, perhaps if it is a stainless steel grate, untwist it and get someone to TIG-weld a deflector cone to the bottom of it, which directs water to the outside walls of the trap and then runs down, rather than rnning straight into the pool of water at the bottom like a waterfall. Thank you! I will check it out. Ain't that the truth! We used to have a tile roof and had it replaced with colorbond and suddenly everything throughout the entire house sounds louder! 4 6685 Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4534 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4090 |
