Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 14, 2015 10:33 pm Hi guys, my partner and i have purchased and older property and gutted the bathroom. this is our first rennovations.. we have a separate toilet and are currently trying to decide on the new bathroom configuration/design. it originally had a bath but only 1200 in length butted up to a shower but to incorporate a bath still with a regular size we would have to place it in as a combined bath/shower. We will be renting the property out once renovations are complete and just wanted to hear whether it would be recommended to do this or to go the more minimal approach and just put in a decent shower. this poses another question of closed or open shower? Regards, chris and lara! Re: walk in shower vs shower bath option for smaller bathroo 2Aug 15, 2015 8:44 am Personally I hate showers over baths but that's just my opinion. Parents who have kids like to have a bath so they can wash the kids. If you are renting it out you may be limiting the range of people you can rent the place out to if you do away with a bath altogether. Stewie Re: walk in shower vs shower bath option for smaller bathroo 3Aug 15, 2015 9:47 am I'd try if there's any way to retain a separate bath and shower, even if both are on the small size. A small shower is still way better than a shower over a bath. If you don't have a bath though, you close out the market of families with young kids. The shower should have a screen around it - the days of fighting with shower curtains and wet floors should be over by now... Re: walk in shower vs shower bath option for smaller bathroo 4Sep 09, 2015 2:36 pm I went through this same conundrum and ended up not putting a bath in at all, but I will be putting a bath downstairs so there will at least be one in the house. I have an incredibly small bathroom too so went for a simple shower (one glass fixed panel as the screen - yet to be supplied and installed), tiny vanity (yet to be supplied and installed) and a wall hung toilet. I'm happy with my decision - I rarely used the bath we had and the room was just too small for it, I don't like showers over baths either. I would suggest if you don't get a bath, get a shower head that you can detach from the rail for washing dogs, kids, cleaning, etc. Re: walk in shower vs shower bath option for smaller bathroo 5Sep 10, 2015 9:52 am Hi, Chris and Lara. Great idea! The house I live in now has a shower bath and it works perfectly fine with me. It saves space and you can enjoy the advantages of having both shower and bath. This is especially useful if you have only one bathroom in the house. You can rent the property out to young couples with kids and also young adults who like to have a quick shower in the morning. Good luck with your renovation. Re: walk in shower vs shower bath option for smaller bathroo 6Dec 10, 2015 3:41 pm Definitely a shower over a bath! They aren't the best looking thing, but if you're renting you need to have that bath. Families won't even bother looking at your place if you don't have a bath.
