Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 31, 2015 6:21 am We've been struggling to get all we want in our main bath (decent long shower, large single vanity, door not opening onto shower etc) We need to decide ASAP as we've already started on site. This has been suggested. It depicts a hinged frameless screen which has a folding panel so it can fold 180 degrees, I assume so it can also go between shower and bath and also fold out of the way (wanted a bath/shower wet area but realised might be tricky for bathing kids, we have a newborn). Looks this can pivot to be between shower and bath. Does anyone have experience with this type of screen? I can't quite picture what the architects described. Hinges aren't ideal but if it achieves what we're after.. Re: Hinged frameless - layout question 4Aug 03, 2015 4:09 pm 4walls If not too late what about a slight change to layout? Put the bath along the 2100 wall, you still have 1200 width for the shower and a fixed screen separating the the vanity and shower? No it's not too late. Thanks for your reply. Yea that's right. We came upon this today. We don't like the idea of opening the door onto the shower but it may be the best option. Less awkward than a hinged screen. Unless there's an even better way? The hindged door to me seems awkward, plus there are ways to decorate (with either your second layout or the one I've suggested) that can draw your eye to what you want and away from what you don't want to focus on. With your second layout, careful that the gap between the vanity corner and the shower screen is wide enough. Yes you are right without endless money and space there's always compromises to be had! This second layout is still neater and cleaner and I agree the hinged screen is awkward. I think there will be enough space, that would have been the problem with the first (alternative) layout. What is "enough" space do you think? We've also looked at that layout as you've suggested, it was our first thought but for bathing kids it might be a little awkward (we've got our first a newborn). As to bath them I would be crouching in the wet area pretty much. That's why we ended up with more like what I put up. Managed to get a toilet in there too http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/8D7E8191-E305-48B3-9ABF-CC060742FF30.png_zpsysqappmz.jpeg Yes that looks good too though we do like the long shower, though perhaps not so practical with kids.. (?) You mean as the entry to the room? We could have a better layout if the door was in the middle of the room but we aren't invested in changing the door, it doesn't exactly work (we have a wet area step in with a powder room, laundry and main bath coming off it). Yes, how wide do you think it should be? Any other takers? We did change it from the first as I said as we didn't think there was enough distance there either.. I personally think pivot door are over the top, as you said a bit impractical having a small useless section and poor insulation.
