Number of bathtubs in house 22Apr 12, 2015 4:46 pm I was run down by a speeding driver when I was stopping for a red traffic light at a school crossing (school time of day) - this driver was set on running the red light...and yes, on my brand new motorcycle. I'm thankful I'm here...metal bits & all Hence, the baths! Re: Number of bathtubs in house 23Apr 12, 2015 5:26 pm Lol plenty of broken bones and punctured ribs here from bikes lol. But no metal bits so far When they do start failing, I'm thinking a seat in the shower is a better option lmao Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!! Re: Number of bathtubs in house 24Apr 12, 2015 6:54 pm A folding shower seat attached to the wall or sturdy aluminium legged shower chair/stool works wonders IMHO, combined with rail/hose combo... Have built this current place with a near 2m shower cubicle with rail/hose, & plenty of room for stool/chair accessibility for different tenants, plenty of room to wash & dry in the one space...hob free ️ Bath has plenty of tiled room around rim for a swivel/slide bath board if needed, for those who prefer the tub but are a little less stable, & I'm fine with installing rails if needed. I love baths.. so that's really for me.. my wife has baths about once or twice a month but me.. I've been known to have a bath every night of the week when I have the time.. hehe.. so on the same note as those forgoing a bath, we are upgrading ours Paddington 29 @ Blue Horizon Estate (Lot 105, Wattleridge Crescent, North Kellyville) Our Build Progress Blog: http://light487.wordpress.com/ Re: Number of bathtubs in house 26Apr 12, 2015 10:17 pm I love baths we have one in our ensuite (this was non negotiable for me) and one in one of the kids bathroom - the other bathroom doesn't have one - disclaimer we are on 5 acres and OB so space is not a problem ps I'm one of those people who would not buy a house that didn't have a bath - I like Seinfeld as much as the next guy but I don't live my life by it viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Number of bathtubs in house 27Apr 12, 2015 11:15 pm Haha you don't need to live by Seinfeld.. but you have to be able to see that what he said is just plain truth. You ARE sitting in your own filth lol. I HATE baths. I think they are one of the most unhygienic things to use BUT... I am about to bow to peer pressure and have redesigned our main bath to include one. Simply for resale value. I still believe we wouldn't be hurt without it but why take the risk. Best give people what they think they need.. then they can wash the dust off of it for nothing lol Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!! Re: Number of bathtubs in house 28Apr 13, 2015 7:10 am Roomeat, no matter what you do or how you wash, your skin is covered in a thin layer of bugs & other nasties - that's what your skin is for (along with our immune system)...to keep these bugs at bay regardless of what you touch or get dipped in. I'll never forget the groans of disgust from hundreds of students when our pathology professor outed that we are covered with a fine layer of our own poo - doesn't matter how we wash! Lol! There is a greater exposure to nasties to your contact skin when sitting on a toilet seat than having a bath. Your skin doesn't let the germs through, & as long as you wash your hands, you won't ingest enough bugs to cause a problem by letting them in through your mouth. Kramer was just a little paranoid...or his fears justified if he was immunocompromised & he had broken skin & a dirty bath... Sent using Tapatalk Re: Number of bathtubs in house 29Apr 13, 2015 8:53 am Put a capful of dettol in the bath every now and then, or a sprinkle of salt and that will take care of the "nasties" while you bathe. I have to do that with my my 5 yo when she wets the bed and wakes up saturated in her own urine like this morning for example. Sorry maybe that was TMI Re: Number of bathtubs in house 30Apr 13, 2015 8:58 am PixiGT, We may very well be covered in all these things, but that doesnt mean it's healthy for you to sit in it and splash water filled with it back over yourself lol Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!! Re: Number of bathtubs in house 31Apr 13, 2015 9:44 am To each their own I love my baths, you don't but that's ok Back on topic though, I really think it depends on the area and the likely buyers that you'd be reselling to. What I'd do, if I was umming and arring over it is to contact a real estate agent and ask them their opinion. Contact a few and see if they indicate that baths create perceived value among buyers. I think more the point is the lack or drop in value of a house that does NOT have a bath in it. If you have a bath in the ensuite, then you at least have a bath in the house. You definately won't get any extra value in having a bath in a house, but you will deter a lot of family buyers if you do not have at least one bath in there. Re: Number of bathtubs in house 33Apr 13, 2015 10:09 am Yup.. that's my point really.. it's not about the increased value but the loss of value if you don't have it.. and it's perceived value, which is always hard to quantify. I guess when I look at a house I have a mental check list that I run through. The more items that are checked off the faster it will move as it will have wider appeal. I don't think with or without a bath is in of its self a deal breaker but there are times when having a bath is a good thing. Re: Number of bathtubs in house 35Apr 13, 2015 10:32 am I feel that a bathroom space that feels luxurious even if all the pieces won't get used, adds to the wow factor and that's what gets the price inching up. Having a luxurious soaker bath ticks one of the luxury boxes. If you want a bath jump in the pool, biggest bath you will get here. Re: Number of bathtubs in house 37Apr 18, 2015 8:46 am We also deleted the bath in our main bathroom and there was never going to be one in our ensuite. It might have impact on the value of the house by the time we want to sell it, but that is nothing compared to all the pain for cleaning a bath that never will be used anyway. Larger showers are more value to me than a standard size and a small bath. Re: Number of bathtubs in house 38Apr 20, 2015 12:30 pm As someone above said - for resale value alone. The three of us ( two adults and one teenage princess ) use the shower constantly and one of us maybe uses the bath once a month. If you were looking to sell later on you'd cut off a large portion of your potential market without one. Ask any real estate agent. Stewie Re: Number of bathtubs in house 39Apr 20, 2015 12:38 pm I am wondering if that really would be the case. I am hearing a lot more now that it is fast becoming a more common trend to remove the tub from builds. I think maybe... By the time I am ready to sell that leaving the tub out May in fact be more of a accepted thing by then.
