Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 24, 2015 9:13 am Been in my new place for a bit over a month now and i have started noticing that both toilets are getting milky water appearing a few hours after they are flushed. When i flush the toilets, the bowl fills up about half way (not sure if this is normal for this toilet or not) and then drains like normal. When the water settles, it is clear. I have scrubbed clean the toilets a few times and then flushed one without using it a few times and the milky water continues. It is a slightly yellow milky white. After about 6hrs, it is starting to go milky, and gets progressively more milky as time goes on. About 24hrs after and it is obviously milky with a yellow tinge. The water is clear directly after a flush and the basin has clear water in it. Is this anything to worry about? or just leeching from the ceramics of the toilet over time? Work friend suggested it is possible the toilets are not flushing properly, resulting in toilet paper and waste getting stuck in the S bend. As the toilet paper disintegrates in the water it makes it go milky white, and the yellow is well, im sure you can guess. Indeed i have noticed the toilet is either not flushing properly, or is just a bad design. I will monitor it for a few days and see what happens if i do secondary flushes after the first. Particularly when I turned a tap on fully to get a high flow. I was told was residue in the plastic pipe and/or fittings. It would eventually go away, which it did. It was suggested if I wanted to hurry the cleaning process I could leave the taps on high flow to flush the pipes out. Re: Milky water in toilet bowl 5Apr 02, 2015 5:40 pm The two problems do not go together unless there is something wrong with the water supply. Have you smelled your water supply from various faucets? Is all your water cloudy or just the toilet? The smell could be a bad wax seal on the toilet or a broken vent line. The wax seal would not show up (necessarily) as a leak. If the seal broke, it could be letting sewer gas come into your home from under the toilet. Sewer gas contains Methane gas. It is not only unpleasant smelling, it is flammable. Good luck. Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish.
