Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 08, 2015 10:46 am We've just taken over a house, and there's maybe 4-5 of these yellow stains on top of our sink bench in the bathroom. http://imgur.com/HwGvOB4 We have tried Jif, as well as vinegar/bicarb and lots of elbow grease, but no luck either way. Does anyone know how we can remove? Any other product suggestion would be much appreciated. Re: How to Remove Stubborn Yellow Stain on Bathroom Benchtop 2Mar 08, 2015 1:51 pm A stonemason told me once and it worked to get hair dye stain out of ours. Use 'gumption' with a bit of water and make a thickshake style paste, cover the stain in this paste than cover the whole lot with a piece of cling wrap. Leave it for a few days than polish it out. This worked for me but we had a white stone top. Re: How to Remove Stubborn Yellow Stain on Bathroom Benchtop 3Mar 10, 2015 12:24 am What kind of material is the bench made of? Marble? laminate? Although you need to be careful as it may dull shiny surfaces if you scrub too hard. http://www.chux.com.au/the-chux-range/c ... ser-range/ My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Re: How to Remove Stubborn Yellow Stain on Bathroom Benchtop 7Apr 15, 2015 12:39 pm Can't be sure of the size, but it looks like it might be a rust stain from leaving a can on a damp benchtop? I have found laundry bleach effective for removing rust stains from laminate. Mix bleach and water 1:1, then wet a white towel or rag and lay it over the area to be cleaned. I would try a bit of string or cotton wool on just a tiny part of the stain first. Given that Gumption is made by Clorox it looks like it is a bleach product (how do firms in Australia get away with listing the active ingredient in a cleaning compound as 'secret'?? on their Chemical Identification sheets??) so that might indeed also work. I wouldn't rub it in since Gumption has abrasives in it.
