Hhaha Mike, that is my DH's line too 'I'm a guy I don't care!' but I agree with you on it being a bigger contrast which is why I thought it wouldn't work as well.....hahahah just goes to show how people perceive things so differently!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 23Jun 19, 2008 3:26 pm How big is the bathroom? The darker will make it look smaller so if its a tight space that may not be a good thing.
I like both colours! Re: Which Tile? Didn't say I don't care....just I'm not necessarily the best judge on colors..... ....kinda know what I like but not necessarily the decorological reason why.... more of a gut thing. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 25Jun 19, 2008 3:29 pm I reckon the lighter one is too similar to the cupboard colour, so the darker one would work better. We had a theory of putting contrasting colours next to each other - ie light tile/dark cupboard/light bench in kitchen, our bathrooms are the opposite. I think youve seen pics of our bathroom bel? Good Point Archaeobabe - the bathrooms aren't huge, and I really like the look and feel of light/open spaces which is one of the reasons why I am having a white kitchen, and also one of the reasons I am leaning towards the lighter tile.... The lady at National Tiles also said that when all the tiles are laid together on the floor they tend to look darker.... We currently have a dark brown floor tile in our bathroom and I don't like it that much..... Soo hard! I started with the bathroom because I thought it would be easy!! Don't get me started on my kitchen splashback!!!!! Or exterior bricks!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 27Jun 19, 2008 3:33 pm I don't think I have Vanders, would you mind sharing???
I so know what you mean about contrasting colours, I like the look in most spaces, but I was thinking of having the bathroom sort of plain and light and then brightening it up with contrasting colours for towels, accessories etc..... My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 28Jun 19, 2008 3:40 pm haywgl Just for you Kiwi (And only because you complimented my camera skills) Thanks, that makes the difference more noticeable. I like the lighter colour personally since I prefer bathrooms to be light and airy. Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 29Jun 19, 2008 3:41 pm haywgl I don't think I have Vanders, would you mind sharing??? I so know what you mean about contrasting colours, I like the look in most spaces, but I was thinking of having the bathroom sort of plain and light and then brightening it up with contrasting colours for towels, accessories etc..... ummm...no! Cant find a pic Our tile in the bathroom is darker again than your darker tile, with the pearl grey cupboards and fossil benchtops. So in the same sort of tones but darker colours. Its our kitchen in reverse! The pearl grey is pretty similar to your oyster linea I reckon. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 30Jun 19, 2008 3:45 pm Thats ok
I've just been stalking the PD website, and I have come across a few of the bathrooms where both tiles have been used (I think!)....And now I am even more confused!!! Has anyone used any of these tiles or know of PD homes which have used them and could let me know how they look on a larger scale?? Thanks again My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 32Jun 19, 2008 4:22 pm I can't remember which name is which, but I'd go for the darker tile on the floor - nice contrast, but not out of place, and will hide the dirt better, thinking practically!!! And, you know what? If you like them both equally, once you pick one and it's laid, it will look great, and you'll be happy with your choice! I know how you feel, though - while I really enjoy this part of the process, it's both fun and nerve-wracking all at once! Good luck! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 33Jun 19, 2008 4:26 pm Go with your first instinct. That's usually the best indication.
Personally, I think the dark (urban earth) is the better one as it picks up the dark grains in the oyster linea. At least from what I can see in your last pic. So, what grout colour will you be picking?.... [sneakersss] Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 35Jun 19, 2008 5:11 pm vanderlay YSSIM So, what grout colour will you be picking?.... YSSIM - Please dont confuse her any more!! Grout #22 Bel for either of them!!! How do I know that Because I am having both of these tiles in my soon-to-be house. I went through what Bel is going through last month. Actually the day I went to NT to pick these tiles was the same day Bel went to her NT and picked the same I couldn't decide so I'm having Earth in my ensuite and powder room and Cloud in the kid's bathroom and laundry Bel, I think Earth would look really nice, I think a bit of contrast on the floor will be good. The white in the shower and hob will keep the rooms light. Happy at Home Re: Which Tile? (With pics) 36Jun 19, 2008 5:11 pm Thank-you all for your input I appreciate it more than you will know
It seems the overall vote is for the darker tile, which was my initial choice. Of course i was worried that the contrast was too much and that the Oyster Linea wouldn't suit at all, but YSSIM pointed out that it matches the lines in the Oyster Linea, which was my first reason for choosing it I will probably end up going with the Urban Earth, I agree it will be easier to clean...Grout??? I had no idea you had to pick this colour too?!?! I'll just take whatever they suggest I guess?? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Which Tile? They suggested #22 to me Bel, for both of them ......I went with it The Earth not only matches the lines in the Oys. Linea but also the darker flecks in your QQ. Good choice You can better tonight having that sorted Happy at Home Re: Which Tile?
