Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 03, 2015 6:00 am Hi I have began renovating my bathroom and would like your opinion about whether you need to have lights above my 1 meter vanity, my bathroom is relatively small about 2.5m x 1.8m. The bathroom person has quoted for 3 LED lights for the room, would this be enough to apply makeup or do you need a specific light over the mirror Thanks for your advise and opinions Re: Bathroom lighting over vanity 2Feb 03, 2015 7:30 am You don't say what kind of light you propose to use but based on 3 for a small bathroom I am assuming down lights. These won't be the best for make up as they can result in shadows on your face. You really need a good shadow free light, so as long as the mirror isn't too tall, over the mirror will be better. You should also think about the colour temperature as 'warm white' might not give you the best results (see http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2015/01/light-colour/) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Bathroom lighting over vanity 3Feb 03, 2015 9:06 am I know my wife likes really good light. We had a LED installed directly above bench in ensuite. AND - it was white light - not that yellow. But - if you have 3 already you might not need another ? Re: Bathroom lighting over vanity 4Feb 03, 2015 9:37 am I have seen downlights installed in ceiling and then aimed toward the mirror. Looks effective but would it serve the purpose? Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!! Re: Bathroom lighting over vanity 5Feb 03, 2015 6:02 pm Hi Bashworth, yes they are LED's and I've just checked and they are warm white. I'll have a word with him tomorrow and see what we can do about changing them over. If I need a light over the vanity I was looking at this one from Beaconlighting, the light depth is 98mm, so with the semi recessed mirror cabinet coming out about 40mm from the wall I hope that this light will still throw enough light. http://i1169.photobucket.com/albums/r516/reno_girl/horizolight-1.jpg Transform your bathroom into a sanctuary of calm and sophistication with Hera Bathware's Bathroom Vanity Collection.
