Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 12, 2008 11:41 am Well after many years of being in our 35 year old home we have finally ripped out the ensuite consisting of toilet, shower and vanity. The shower base was a bugger to remove as it was solid concrete. At one stage we thought we'd need a jackhammer to break it up but along with a friend's handy hubby, we got it broken up with a really big chisel. Our vanity was one of those old laminated ones with china basin and cupboard underneath with very stylish louvre doors .
We knew at least some of the floorboards underneath were rotten as there was leakage from the base and it was beginning to show through the tiles with a dark shadow. Unfortunately most of the floorboards will have to be replaced but that's ok. So now we are starting to look at tiles in readiness for when the floorboards go down. I'm looking forward to the challenge of doing the ensuite ourselves, aside from laying the floor tiles as they will need to be graded for the shower. I will post a pic of the ensuite, or what once was, soon. This site is invaluable and I will probably be frequenting it a lot more now that we've finally begun. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location.
