I don't think I could see any identifying markings on them.
I think we are still going to end up getting them. They do look much neater than a standard waste. The main issue is whether or not to get them in the bath's as well. If we find that they are no good, it's relatively easy to chnage the waste in basins, but with a bath that has been built in it gets a lot harder I would imagine. Re: Popup waste - anyone using them 10Jun 12, 2008 1:30 pm Pop up wastes are the standard in the USA and have been for a very long time. Not sure of the design difference here as I've never seen one in Oz.
Every house I've ever lived in till I came here had one, and they don't leak there. Not sure if this is relevant or not:):) Greg edit: OK not relevant I guess. In the US, pop up wastes are mechanically actuated via a rod installed in the tap that connects to a linkage that is installed on the drain pipe under the vanity. I see from this link they are activeted by touching the waste directly: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Pop-Up-Waste-Rou ... m153.l1262 Greg Re: Popup waste - anyone using them 11Jun 12, 2008 4:12 pm We have popup waste at work sink. It is now over 8 years old and no leaking. It also includes an inbuilt strainer thingy so we don;t get clogged drains. Re: Popup waste - anyone using them 12Jun 14, 2008 10:09 pm StuDog My in-laws have them in their new house and they don't seem to work that well. We were there on the weekend and I decided to test them. I filled the sink about 1/2 way and left it for a while. I reckon the basin was empty within a couple of minutes with this popup waste.Stu We had exactly the same problem in a temporary rental (brand new house) we're living in while our new house is being built. Quite put me off putting them in the new house until we discovered the problem -- they had never been sealed to the basins! It took us nearly two weeks to figure it out (Doh!) because it's not obvious that the water is actually running out under the outer ring unless you look very closely. Even the builder didn't believe it but a chippy, some sealant and five minutes fixed it and they've worked perfectly ever since. And these are real cheap basins too (investment property). Don't say that's your in-laws problem but it's worth a look. I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE.
