Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 25, 2014 9:42 pm Can someone please recommend a good wall faced toilet suite that flushes well? I prefer soft close as well. Builder is giving us a S-type toilet suite so I assume I need to use a S-type. I went to the caroma store it is difficult to choose one when one can't "test drive" at the store. Caroma seems to have bad review online as well so I am looking alternative. Thanks. Cheers Mark Re: Toilet suite 3Oct 26, 2014 7:24 am They should have some good examples in store. As said though - sit on a few and try them. Stories you hear - maybe a myth - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=62127&p=1252462#p1252462 - but I've been told people do try them in display houses. REALLY try them !!! Its apparently why they now lock the seat down. Even when they have no water - ie unconnected - no flush - and the sign says this - people still use them - not sure about upper deckers ... Re: Toilet suite 4Oct 26, 2014 7:25 am Sorry - my tip - yes - go for the slow closer seat - but remember you have them when at a friends and you put the seat down - BANG !!!! Also- go for the bigger one - those skinny toilets are cheap and uncomfortable. After all - a friend of mine told me - you spend 5-10% of your life on one ... Re: Toilet suite 5Oct 26, 2014 9:43 am Saint Mike, you are right they do use them. I went in to a display home at Yarrabilba a while ago, and someone totally missed, there was a 'yellow river' on the edge of the bowl and over the floow too. I have seen 'skid marks' on the inside of the bowl at another display home, but they at least had flushed it ! Size of the bowl is a good point, and I didn't realise that there was much of a difference with bowls, other than a few millimetres. I will have to keep my eyes open when I go out to buy mine for my build. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: Toilet suite 6Oct 26, 2014 9:48 am When looking at what the builder supplied and having sat on a few in my time I originally wanted to upgrade to Caroma, however then I realised it was only a little more to get V&B so we went with that. I used to live in a condo that had V&B and the quality is very good. It is also worth sitting on them for height too. If you are shorter you will be amazed the difference a few mils will make...... In term of flushing, one can't test out at the store. The toilet at our workplace. Ahem...I have to flush numerous time to get it clean so I am quite worried that I will stuck with one like that despite it sits comfortably. I'll have a look at V&B. Anymore suggestion on brand and model? That's funny about trying them at the display home. Our toilet floated once and it would be scary if that happens at the display home. oops, i meant flooded. This time we bought a Rocca. It's an unobtrusive toilet, soft closing and it flushes. I love it. Re: Toilet suite 15Oct 26, 2014 8:34 pm AussieMark haha thats funny...... Caroma toilet suites are as expensive as Reece rocca. So I think this is worth buying if it flushes! Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 Re: Toilet suite 18Oct 26, 2014 11:13 pm Sofia, parkwood plumbing have a good range of V&B, I am building in perth and that is who my builder uses. I switched from standard to the subway WC and Memento basins. I went for wall faced as they are easier to clean. Concealed cisterns are a lot more ex and for me potentially more hassle for maintenance down the line.. BTW I was looking at Caroma Opal 2 with soft close and it was around the same retail price as the V&B, when priced up though there was less disount on the Caroma but still not too bad. Check out Parkwood Plumbing as the have an awesome range of many brands. Re: Toilet suite 19Nov 01, 2014 8:45 am Streamline do a lot of excellent toilets, all with Geberit Cisterns, Geberit is undoubtedly the best cisterns in the world, and are sold in every country. You would be hard pressed to find a toilet these days that doesn't have a soft close unless its a heritage style toilet. Does your toilet currently have the tap sticking out the side. This is a bottom entry. If you are re-tiling then you should move the water to the rear of the cistern, then the tap is under the lid (one less pipe to see and clean around). This is called a rear entry. Also very important when you are buying a toilet, feel under the rim where the water flushes out. A lot of cheap toilets wont have the white coating under there, steer clear of these. Most definitely sit on it and try it out. cheers Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish.
