Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 17, 2014 11:14 am I am looking to reno the 2 bathroom and 1 toilet. I want to put the 1 bathroom to an ensuite as it's adjacent to a room. I am abit confused about putting a bath. Currently the other bathroom that would be the main bathroom has a good acrylic panel for the shower room, and to save cost, we're thinking to put bath in the ensuite instead . Would it be a buyer rejection for family with kids if we sell it later? The ensuite is quite small, does toilet is necessary in an ensuite.? If we want a toilet we would have to let go the bath, and put it in the main bathroom, but well, there'll be extra for plumbing works. Currently the house has 2 toilet, one is inside the other bathroom and in the powder room itself. thanks cindy Re: bathroom reno 2Sep 17, 2014 1:14 pm If you are thinking of further resale value, you'll need to know beforehand if your house is one that would attract a family, then definitely don't put the bath in the ensuite if it can only be accessed by the master bedroom.
But it would be fine if your house is likely to attract retirees or young couples without children. Also if you have 2 toilets already, there's no reason you need one in the ensuite if you can still easily access it from the master bed, but then essentially its purely a shower room you are creating. For me, its all about access. Our current build has an ensuite with double basin and shows and separate toilet, both are accessed off separate doors to the master. Our main bathroom then has double sink, toilet, shower and bath, so it can be used by the kids and any guests. We kept our ensuite separate so we don't wake each other on early mornings and if we have people over for a BBQ or dinner party etc, they can all access two toilets. HTH. Re: bathroom reno 3Sep 20, 2014 1:00 pm Ensuite must contain a toilet, i would remove the bath to add the toilet as all the ensuites i have renovated have always generally had a toilet as it is what most people want. I would be hesitant of putting a bath only in ensuite because if you are bathing kids its generally further from their rooms and you would have to go a longer way to leave them unattended, not safe.
