Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 24, 2014 2:09 pm Hi. My shower is having some problems, when I turn the hot water on it comes out with low pressure. Sometimes the pipes rattle and howl. The cold water comes out fine, but when the cold is turned on it is very sensitive (turn about 10 degrees rotation and it goes from hot to freezing cold) we have one faucet for each temp and we don't have this problem anywhere else in the house. Any ideas?? Re: Water pressure in shower 2Aug 24, 2014 2:16 pm Is it gas instantaneous hot water? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Water pressure in shower 4Aug 24, 2014 3:26 pm A bit unusual if it has only now developed a problem. Gas instantaneous hot water systems need a minimum flow rate to operate properly. If it is changing from hot to cold, it is probably the heater registering a low flow rate and shutting off. You can turn down the heat setting so that you use a lesser % of cold water, increasing the hot water flow. Warranty? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Water pressure in shower 5Aug 24, 2014 3:31 pm I've already set it to 2 out of 5 to save on has. I've also tried it on 5 with no success. Could it be a problem in the heater if it only happens in the shower? Bath is fine and the laundry sink is at the other end of the house, and it works perfectly too. Re: Water pressure in shower 6Aug 24, 2014 4:11 pm It sounds like a delivery issue. Have you tried taking the flow restricter out of the shower rose? Take it out, turn the hot on all the way and see what happens. Also wondering if it could possibly be a washer problem on the hot tap. I would be changing it as a matter of course. If the delivery has previously been ok, there's not much there that can go wrong along the flow path. The rattling pipe(s) is puzzling as this indicates pressure shock. This can only be the supply source or a variable obstruction along the flow path. Is it still under warranty? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Water pressure in shower 9Aug 24, 2014 4:46 pm Ok, so new washers in and nothing really has changed. I pulled the rose off and removed the restrictor, the slow hot water flow has been fixed, but the temp control issue still remains. With toy tap open all the way, I open the cold tap the smallest amount and get a big deal of change in the temprature Re: Water pressure in shower 10Aug 24, 2014 5:37 pm Strange. The heater seems super sensitive to pressure change but why only the shower? Well, at least you have eliminated the basics. Unfortunately, I think that a call to the manufacturers service division (assuming they have one) is on the cards. I have to admit defeat on this occasion. Sorry. 3in1 Supadiverta.
