Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 13, 2014 6:05 pm Hi guys, I disagree with our builder on where our shower head should go. Sorry if it's a stupid questio It's going to be a rectangular shaped shower at the end of a room, so just a single pane of glass. Length 1.85m, width 0.9m. Shower head will be an overhead rain shower with a rail shower. Builder says shower head should go onto the longer wall. I thought it should go onto the short wall for more space when showering? Only problem is will need a hob for pipes. Please share your thoughts if this makes any sense! Re: Shower head positioning 2Jul 13, 2014 7:00 pm I have a similar set up to you and have my shower head and rail on short wall. On the long wall as you walk in the opening I have my flick mixer. You don't get wet when turning on taps. I love it! Re: Shower head positioning 3Jul 13, 2014 7:05 pm We are also having a similar setup (1.4m x 0.9m) and have position the shower head and mixer on the short wall so we can make a feature of the long wall without a distracting shower rail. Re: Shower head positioning 4Jul 13, 2014 8:07 pm Good question and one that made me check. In my master I have 3.0m x 1.06m the ceiling dropper with rainshower is in the middle at one end, I assume that the rail shower will be centered on the short wall and they have put the controls on the 1.5m nib wall. It is the same setup for all 3 hobless showers. For the guest bedroom where there is a hob which is 960mm x 1240mm and for that one both shower rail and controls are on the short end. Re: Shower head positioning 5Jul 13, 2014 8:20 pm What stage are you in the build process? Building with Jandson Homes - Eclipse 18. http://adgnetworks.blogspot.com/ Re: Shower head positioning 6Jul 13, 2014 9:23 pm Cheers guys. Glad I'm not crazy. All of what you have done sounds logical. I'll say we want it at that short end. A hob for the pipes isn't the end of the world. It's a renovation, not a new build adgn. We just have to finalize what we want and get the builder in to do it. The only other issue is that it is an old house (queenslander) and it has a frosted window on the long wall. It used to be external, now it goes to a closed in sleep out. I think it's a feature and don't want to remove it. Will be seeing if it can be adequately sealed to leave it there. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
