Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 27, 2014 6:40 pm Hey guys. Queried my builder regarding my shower screen. Our Ensuite and bathroom will have tiled shower bases but no hob for the screen to sit on. The screen will just be on the tiles. So my issue is we won't be able to put a towel on the floor in front of the door because the door will hit it. What are your experiences? Is it a pain and have you learnt to live with it? Re: Shower screen issue 5Jun 27, 2014 8:27 pm Need pics on this one. Sounds like you have a hobless shower base which does make for a problem. This means it will really come down to the shower screen you selected in the specs of your build. Some doors have a plastic "wiper" fitted to the bottom which works to a degree but not what I'd use. What I have seen is a little chrome "bump" tiled into the floor which the plastic wiper sits against directing the water back in the shower and works very well. The downside is that it hurts a ton when you stub your toe on it. What I have done several times very successfully is start setting the fall about 2" further out than the door which means any water that penetrates beyond the door only goes out that few inches at the most before falling back in the shower again. This is what I'll be doing when I reno the en suite shortly. I just did our bathroom and cheaped out with a 900x900 marbletrend base Re: Shower screen issue 8Jun 27, 2014 9:57 pm mgilla It's semi frameless redhotmike so unlike frameless there's a frame at the bottom. Means there's no problem. Sorry - typed my post over a bit of time (and really good Thai dinner and didn't notice the replies. Yeah - semi frame less screen should be ok. Re: Shower screen issue 9Jun 28, 2014 11:29 am Oh that's great then. That's what I wanted. It should be ok then. RHM I hate the idea of the frameless showers ad water coming out of the side of the door. That's why I picked semi frameless. Just wasn't sure on the bottom. They haven't given me the brand to have a look at so thought I'd pick your brains. Re: Shower screen issue 10Jun 28, 2014 11:34 am We've got this - and have a mat. Just enough room for it to go over. Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass. You could replace it with laminated safety glass but make sure it has AS standards logo on it 1 11184 You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium. It doesn't take a lot of… 1 7074 2 4496 |
