I am about to start a bathroom reno too, and was advised to not attempt to line up the floor and wall tiles, even if they were the same size, because it would draw attention to any slight variations that might arise due to grout thickness etc. Instead I was told to always offset the wall and floor tiles. I am using 450 x 450 on the walls and 300 x 300 on the floor. I have seen photos of some lovely bathrooms with white subway tiles.
