When they plumbed the waste on our build we thought the pipes looked a fair bit skewed, but figured they would obviously sort it out before the slab was poured. We thought wrong! The waste for the ensuite shower has come out 150mm from where it was supposed to be. We only had a 900x900 shower base in there in the plans but with where the waste comes out, its bang on where a 1200x900 waste would be, but not on purpose, its just because of the angle.
We asked our new site supervisor today how he was going to fix it and he said they'd dig out the slab around the waste to where the hole needs to be and just put a flexi pipe of some sort from the shower base in to the actual waste. When we raised that because of the distance and angle that they'd hit the styrofoam he didn't think that was an issue at all. They have no plans to waterproof where they dig or anything. We're concerned that if that pipe blocks somehow then instead of water backing up into the actual shower, its going to overflow into the cut concrete/styrofoam and cause damp issues (seeing as its inside the damp barrier)
He replied that they do it all the time. Thats not filling me with confidence - just because they do it all the time, doesn't mean its right!
We even offered to pay some extra towards the upgrade costs involved to moving to a 900x1200 and they pretty much said thats not happening. Plumbers or bathroom people out there - how would you fix it? Help!
