Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 21May 12, 2014 4:47 pm I prefer the layout on the right. Having a bathtub these days is considered a feature in most bathrooms and the proposed position allows your tub to be seen. It also works well in front of or under a window (I'm not sure how big this window is) as it not only frames it well but could also give it a spa like feel. I would place my spout on the back wall a third of the way in from the right to give it a sense of symmetry. It looks like you have enough room to have a freestanding bath and with this in mind i would keep the tub at least a 100mm off from the wall. My only other suggestion is the placement of the toilet. I would have it on the opposite wall so it is concealed by the door and I don't think there is a need for a nib wall. Good luck. Do you mean placing the spout under the window, in the midline of the bath? Or elsewhere?? How much spacing for a tub from the shower screen and vanity do you reckon would be ok? There's only about 1.9-2 m between the shower screen and the vanity, what size tub would be adequate? a 1.7m long tub? I thought that using the nib wall might conceal the toilet from within the room more, so you can have more privacy with two users. Also, it means that a towel rail/heated can be placed right next to the shower. Thanks MalSannie....! I used the reece bathroom 3d planner microsite actually.... http://www.reece.com.au/bathrooms/3d-bathroom-planner Pretty cool tool. Only issue is that you're limited to using items that Reece sells. I think we're likely to go for the right option (option 2). A hard choice, but although the left option looks trendy and the bathtub has more space around it .... there's not as much space in the middle of the room, the shower is half enclosed (which DW doesn't like; she likes a more open feeling despite there being more glass to clean). Option 2 is probably a better use of the space (I think option 1 would be better if the room was a bit bigger; but that would compromise the master bedroom). Also the towel rail can go right next to the shower. Would anyone here go for a bath on a hob instead of bathtub? Possibly easier to clean (altho likely wont use the tub much at all anyway), but might not look as good. So only have to clean around it, not under it.... ?i presume this would make a significant difference. Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8413 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
