Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 12, 2014 2:03 pm Hi We have very limited width in the kids bathroom, and the vanity and bath will be running parallel from each other on opposite sides of the room. The width of the room is 185cm. So I am looking at a bath that is 700mm wide, and a vanity that is somewhere between 400mm and 500mm deep (we have heaps of length - up to 2m) depending on how much the cabinetmaker needs to house undermount basins that are 250mm front to back as you loojk at them (but 320mm front to back if you measure from external to external). I like the Kaldewei DynaSet as being practical for a shower/bath combo, but it is 750mm wide and really, every mm counts in this bathroom. I have seen the Kaldewei Sanilux and one from Roger Sellers called the comfort - both are 700mm wide and 1700mm long, but the flat area for standing is quite limited (around 400mm). I have plenty of room for length of the bath, but would be willing to shorten to 1600mm if that meant I could find an appropriate bath that is only 700mm wide. As the shower will be over, I am looking for something with as steep sides as possible. It also needs to be able to be tiled in (ie not as an island) so that the width of the bath is the absolute maximum it will take up. Any ideas? Thank you! Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 2Mar 13, 2014 11:55 am hi carocaro, I might be missing something but is there any chance that you could swivel the bath through 90 degrees and have it running the width of the bathroom at the far end? The 1.85m would fit most baths and then you would no longer be constrained with the width. Just a thought. Good luck with it all. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 4Mar 13, 2014 12:25 pm Hi, I have 900mm standing room behind my vanity and I though that was pretty squeezy. If your looking at 700-750mm clearance between vanity and bath then this would definitely be tight when standing at basin and walking between. I would be looking to see if its possible to relocate bath along the 1850mm length if at all possible as jenathome mentioned above. What is the overall length x width of room and where are your windows/door. Maybe forum members can give you a hand with alternative layouts if its not already set in stone. Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 5Mar 13, 2014 8:34 pm Hi thanks for the replies. The problem at the end of the room is that there is a window which would cause problems with the shower over. There is also a sloping ceiling (from the proposed bath side down to the vanity side). If I put a bath at at the end then we effectively lose the window (we could put in a highlight but because of the sloping roof it would be tiny and off-centre. The room is an odd shape: 185cm across at the window end, then 2m down the bath side and 3m down the vanity side. There will be a wall at the shower end of the bath. That all needs to be where it is (rather than extending to the 3m point) because of access to the bedrooms outside. Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 6Mar 14, 2014 10:36 pm HI there, we in very similar position - also looking for a shower bath combo to fit a tiny bathroom. We have a bit more width and less length than you. I was also looking at the DynaSet bath as well as Bette's inset bath http://www.argentaust.com.au/bette/bette-baths/betteset but it's also 750 wide. I really want 800 wide. Do you particularly want to go steel? Today I came across the Decina Bambino bath - it's acrylic but 720w (as opposed to the Modena shower bath which is 820w). Gives you a few more mm's! Really undecided ourselves on acrylic or steel but leaning towards the latter. Good luck Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 7Mar 16, 2014 9:41 pm Thanks SPF, I hadn't seen that one! I was hoping for steel but beggars can't be choosers... I thought steel was preferable as looks nicer and won't scratch as much. Are ther pros for acrylic I should know about (except cheaper and doesn't chip?) Re: narrow bath suggestions (700mm) for use with shower over 8Mar 17, 2014 8:51 am Hi again carocaro - I myself am not convinced about acrylic yet - I think they're easily moulded and so can get some lovely shapes, are lightweight but apparently strong, easier to install??? I think they can still get scratched. Steel is a lot more durable I believe - you can tell that with the long 30 year warranties on the Kaldewei baths. I just found us both the perfect bath/shower. Only prob is not from here... so nice though and no worries or stress stepping in and out of: http://www.danelonmeroni.com/ELLE-COMBI. Have put in an enquiry, but I'm sure they're super expensive and not sure they'd ship here. Worth a try You need to reference the manufactures installation guide, your supplier may have strengthened the base where it is not required to sit on a bed. 1 1816 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8242 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7515 |
