Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 06, 2014 9:03 pm Usual practice is to connect the discharge hose from the washing machine onto the inlet on the trap under the sink/bowl, however come across a situation where there is no associated sink or bowl to which a trap is connected - there is only a 50mm waste pipe ie it is a stand alone washing machine. Should a trap be fitted despite no bowl to attach to? Or is there some other fitting available that provides for the water discharge into the waste pipe? thanks barkly Re: Washing machine discharge water 2Feb 07, 2014 9:11 am Yes, in the same situation I fitted a trap and then brought a vertical pipe up to just below the top of the washing machine. I then hooked the discharge hose into that. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
