Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 06, 2014 10:12 am hi everyone I am building a new bathroom in an unused section of my home, the previous owners converted the double carport into a second living area with an additional bedroom and a bar area. it is the bar area that is to be the new bathroom and my question is to do with the floor in regards to getting correct fall for the central floor waste. it is already tiled and I need to know if the existing tiles need to be taken up and a new base screeded in or if I can tile straight over them? Thanks in advance Re: Tiling over tiles - please help 2Feb 12, 2014 9:54 pm Hi, I assume that the floor will need new Plumbing piping as well?.... so during this process some of it will have to be dug up. During this time you can find out how well the original tiles and screed (if any) are stuck. if they are.... then yes you can re screed over the existing Tiles and then tile again. You will have to prep the tiler surface though.... I am a Tiler with 27 years experience by the way Hope this helps Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8088 just pull up the slate. If you go over the top, your tiles would not have an even surface to be glued to. Im no tiler, but i can imagine a couple of things being an issue… 1 337 Levelling compound Ardit is the best but buy a bag of sand and make sand dam to protect your wood floor 2 15253 |
