Hi guys,
I would like to add heated towel rails after handover rather than the builder install them & charge a ransom !
Is it possible? And if yes, how does the builder's electrician do it?
Am I being unreasonable?

If it's the first option then maybe run an extra set of wires but not connect them to mains so when you get the electrician in, they can hard wire it to the power cable in the wall and connect it to live power at the other end which will probably be in the roof cavity? If it's the latter, then just add a power point where you need it. Shouldn't be too difficult either way i would think. Re: HEATED TOWEL RAILS 4May 25, 2008 1:32 pm Hi Southies,

Oh, didn't realise . Ohh and i agree atleast get it prewired .. we had ours prewired to the automated lighting, turns on between 8:30 and 10:30 if we are home so its warm at night time, doesnt turn on if we are out (alarm) and can over ride with one of the light buttons by the bathroom door. The auto is awsome, if you are running standard 240v wiring why not have a timer in say the shaving cabinet and an override on switch near the doorway. Re: HEATED TOWEL RAILS 18Jun 12, 2008 11:32 am Hi all, I have heard that heated towel rails use a lot of power and therefore boost your power bill, is this right?
How yummy to have warm towels after a shower . At the mo I stick the towel over the ducted heating vent to warm it up before I go in but it's not quite the same Re: HEATED TOWEL RAILS 19Jun 12, 2008 4:36 pm Kingy Hi all, I have heard that heated towel rails use a lot of power and therefore boost your power bill, is this right? So you don't want them on all the time. Ideally you want about an hour after the wet towel goes on (to get them dry) and an hour in winter before you use them. Using a timer will give you a warm towel on a cold winters morning and keep your power costs reasonable.
