Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 06, 2013 4:22 pm Hi All, I'm building through a volume builder but am unlikely to get them to tile the house because they won't do a 1.5mm grout. My question is that if they refuse to allow me to tile the bathroom, what are your thoughts on having the bathroom floor tiles different than the hallway? Will it look funny? If this is my option, should I look at a tile that is contrastingly different so you can differentiate the rooms (my thought) or get a tile that matches closely (might look a bit funny) Open to your thoughts. Thanks, Re: tiling question 3Dec 08, 2013 7:16 am Not sure on layout - but will hall tiles be seen from bathroom - and/or vice versa ? Can't see why they can't be different. Make sure they tile bathroom in set pattern - ie don't go criss cross/angled in shower. Personally, I'd have them different. Re: tiling question 4Dec 09, 2013 6:03 pm Hi Mike, Yes the hall leads to the bathroom so if the bathroom door is open you will see the difference. The layout is the Monterey Lux Q1 http://www.henley.com.au/find-a-home/collections/clendonvale/monterey-series Cheers Re: tiling question 5Dec 10, 2013 12:15 am Yeah the openness of door matters a lot to make some significant amount of noticeable difference in the current flooring plan. I suggest create a 3D model and compare your view as to how will it look in the end and then make some actual decision. Initially hesitant, I did it and it worked for me. Try it. Re: tiling question 7Dec 10, 2013 9:56 pm Hi, We are building the same house and choose to have different tiles in the Wet Areas, to the Main flooring. We also ran the floor tiles up the bath hob in the bath/ens to make a feature out of it. We picked tiles that were different, darker for the wet areas as it is more prone to hair etc. If you pick a porcelain tile with Henley grout is 2mm i believe. Jess Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7443 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8080 4 14399 |
